Sometimes it's really hard being a mom, more importantly Courtney's mom. She's a lot like me in that sometimes she speaks without thinking and therefore some people think she has very little tolerance for people she disagrees with. While there may be a kernal of truth in that what they don't understand is that she has a heart of gold and that I and her dad couldn't be prouder of her.
When Courtney moved to Steelville, MO with her then finace, I was frankly worried about them but my ever optimistic daughter assured me that everything would be fine. Actually, things really weren't fine and when her engagement ring was repossessed I knew things weren't all that great. Things continued on a downward spiral until they broke off the engagement and went their seperate ways. One thing led to another and I found myself expecting my first grandchild. Courtney took on motherhood without looking back, sacrificing time with her daughter to go to paramedic school to secure a future for them. She asked for very little help from us and there was no help from the father. She studied and worked complaining very little. We babysat as well as friends. I remember Courtney saying, almost in tears, that she missed having time with her daughter. As God would have it, a wonderful man (OK Adam, most of the time I think this) came into her life, loving her daughter as though she were his. They married and now have 2 beautiful kids, completing our circle of love. Yes, Stephanie, the kids will sometimes get your expensive clothes dirty and Kaelyn is the upchuck queen but they love everyone and we couldn't be prouder. Sometimes Courtney isn't as tolerant of people as she should be but that possibly came from me. We both need to work on that. Her family is her life, her first thought in the morning and last thought as night.
I wish the one person who has critized her could live her life for one day to appreciate my daughter. I couldn't be prouder and I love you Court!
Love you,
Mom
